Before the world shut down, Emma Louise landed at the lowest moment of her life. After the release of her celebrated 2018 album Lilac Everything, the Australian-born, now LA-based singer-songwriter was ready to leave her music career behind. Feeling burned out, worn down, and isolated, she checked herself into a hospital in Los Angeles for what she casually referred to as a ‘complete mental breakdown’, an experience that would end up transforming her life for the better. In that hospital was a piano. As if pulled out by a gravitational force, Emma sat down at that instrument and, away from all expectation, music poured out of her. She wrote about bad medicine, divine love, doves in flight, the curse of always wanting more and seeing everything clearly for the first time. Even after returning home, the music kept coming. Emma wrote a song a day for months, and when she wasn’t perched over the piano, she was funnelling her creativity into painting and pottery. At her personal bottom, she found an unexpected peace, and turned it all into song. Sunshine For Happiness, out via Future Classic on May 1 is Emma Louise’s ethereal, achingly beautiful fourth album. 'Nothing Could Tear Us Apart' is a the next glimpse into Emma's new album, following on from her previous single 'God Between Us'.
