About this release

Briana Lee is a country/folk/roots singer-songwriter from Kialla, in Victoria's Goulburn Valley. She writes in the tradition of the storyteller, with imagery-rich, emotionally honest songs that hold joy and sorrow together. Briana started writing and performing as a young teenager. Her debut single, "Make the Most", arrived in 2013, shortly followed by a debut album recorded in Nashville. She was the 2006 Telstra Road to Tamworth songwriter winner and a 2009 Toyota Star Maker grand finalist, and has made two songwriting trips to Nashville. After stepping back to raise her young daughters, Briana has returned with 'Amber', her first new music in years. Inspired by the devastating January fires around Longwood and Ruffy, close to her hometown, the single gives the blaze a name and a face: a woman who arrives in town bent on destruction. Beneath the imagery, it's a song about the resilience, courage and togetherness of the community that stood in her path. 'Amber' marks the start of a new chapter. Briana spent the last couple of years writing, and in July she recorded a batch of new songs with Simon Johnson at Hillbilly Hut, with more music to follow. "I'm feeling a renewed passion and excitement for music. It's so good to be back in the creative and collaborative space again," she says. "I want my girls to see that it's never too late to chase your dreams and to always make time to do what brings you joy." A dynamic performer with a storyteller's presence, Briana connects with a crowd of any size. Whether it's an intimate room or a festival stage, she brings the same openness and her songs do the rest. 'Amber' is out now. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/28aite0pp5xl6qvzcfjc0/AAvELutAEn9G2avO54M_7a4?rlkey=27q3n6lxsj3iwxuvp5glt9jax&st=3eajs7xh&dl=0 Song Info: ‘Amber’, a haunting new single inspired by the devastating January fires around Longwood and Ruffy area, close to her hometown. In true storyteller fashion, Briana gives the fire a name. ‘Amber’ personifies the blaze as a woman who arrives in town bent on destruction. Beneath the imagery, it is a song about the resilience, courage and togetherness of the community that stood in her path. "Life will return but her memry remains, she can’t break the hope that burns inside a man” Briana spent the last couple of years writing and in July she recorded a batch of new songs with Simon Johnson at Hillbilly Hut, with more music to follow.
