About this release

I’m Craig Cavanagh, a singer and songwriter from Liverpool. I released my first EP, Green Eyed Soul, back in 2013. Thirteen years later, after everything life threw at me, I found myself back in the studio making music again. That became 13 Summers Later. The EP is probably the most personal music I’ve ever made. It’s about love, loss, growing up, finding yourself again and everything that happens in between. There’s soul, R&B, reggae, pop and a bit of everything else that naturally comes out when I write. My dad is a huge part of the story. Autumn XIII XVI reflects the period when he became ill, I lost my voice, moved away and eventually lost him in October 2016. It’s raw, personal and something I wanted to tell honestly rather than dress it up. I’ve spent much of my life working in hospitality, events and entertainment, building things, creating experiences and being surrounded by people. That world has influenced me massively, but music has always been there underneath it all. I’m 40 now, I’ve lived a bit, fucked up a bit, lost people, learned a lot and somehow ended up back where I started. Only this time, I know exactly why I’m here. 13 Summers Later is my next chapter. And I’m only just getting started. Song Info: “Soulmate” is about finding your partner, your best mate and your ride or die for life. That person you choose to do life with, through the good, the bad and everything in between. It’s about knowing you’ve found someone you want beside you for the long haul, not just for a moment.
