About this release
Punctuating what has been a busy and fruitful year of creativity, Melbourne indie-pop artist and songwriter GYPSY LEE releases her much anticipated new EP, ON A MISSION FROM GOD AND GUCCI. Driven by a bold approach to creating music that is unwavering in its individuality and scope, GYPSY LEE has presented a collection of songs that has captured an incredibly formative period of her life. Stepping further into young adulthood, ON A MISSION FROM GOD AND GUCCI is an EP of empowerment, self-discovery and assurance that any hurdles are able to, and can be, overcome. The four tracks range from the baroque but booming Snitches, to the tongue-in-cheek energy of What Doesn't Kill You Costs A Lot in Therapy. Of making the EP, GYPSY LEE describes the experience as being a journey, reflecting on how the music has matured as she has done in recent years. "These songs are the most honest thoughts in my head and feelings from my heart," Gypsy Lee says. "A total representation of where I am in life right now as a 22 year old navigating life. There’s definitely a fair share of unhingedness which I love, but throughout the EP, I'm especially proud of the underlying deepness and meaning of each lyric and melody." She says the EP’s title "just fell into my hands on the way to a funeral." "I’m definitely the kind of girl that believes everything happens for a reason… or at least I try to. I liked the idea that making this EP was almost a calling, maybe that my purpose this lifetime is to write and share truths people can resonate with. And doing it with style.”
