About this release

The title track to Kevin Sullivan’s third album, is a song called “Give Me A Story”. It is a unifying song and a resounding anthem for troubled times. Kevin Sullivan and Stuart Joel Nuggett’s latest single is about welcoming all people to live in our beautiful country and is a timely antidote to share positivity and unique stories, through communities, valuing all, regardless of background, culture or gender within our Australian society. Their collaboration on “Give Me A Story” shows the true dynamic of their joint song writing skills. Independently, Stuart and Kevin both had the desire to create a unifying song, a welcoming song for all Australians. A song that would not divide but unite. The result is a true expression of both acceptance and coalescing of people and groups for a common goal, for all Australians to be ”together as one”. The song was written in Alice Springs in November 2024, following a successful tour where Stuart and Kevin, together with his family band The Sulli-Vans had played shows at Tennant Creek and even at a remote indigenous school in the Territory. As you listen to the lyrics of “Give Me A Story”, it speaks of the red desert sand, the tropical north, the blue of our waters and the snow when it falls. A poignant line in the song is where Stuart Joel Nuggett sings, “I’m part of this land and I’m glad to share it with you”. The songwriters Kevin Sullivan and Stuart Joel Nuggett simply implore the listener to share our stories together under the Australian sun, to learn from each other, because we are not that different and we all belong.
