Riverina Sand

I’m an independent singer-songwriter based in Longreach, Queensland. My music sits broadly within contemporary country, but my background in jazz and popular music and my influences across rock, folk and alternative music tend to find their way into my writing. I’m very story-focused as a songwriter and interested in making music that feels emotionally honest and distinctly my own. I have a substantial catalogue of original songs and am currently developing and recording them independently. Song Info: Riverina Sand began with my love of the Riverina Akubra in Sand. During a 1,400 km train journey from Longreach to Brisbane, I watched the fenceline pass and wondered who maintained it. I imagined an older female ringer in that hat and the life she had lived, and wrote her story in her hotel that night.
