About the Artist

As she continues to explore her own approach to folk, pop and country, ANGELA ROSE finds new ways to evolve her voice and storytelling talent. Returning with a brand new single titled ‘COWBOY OF MINE’, the Maitland artist explores a beautiful tapestry of sound: heartfelt and evoking a sense of nostalgia amongst a very contemporary feel. The song, inspired by the artist’s own country roots, is rooted in bittersweet recollections and realisations that perhaps the person you thought was going to be yours, isn’t meant for you in the way you envisioned. As Rose explains, ‘Cowboy Of Mine’ is a song that can still find some hopefulness amongst feelings of sadness and acceptance. “At its heart, the song is about loving and letting go, and accepting someone for who they are rather than trying to make them stay. The idea was inspired by an old saying my Nanna shared with me that I’ve always carried: “If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it’s yours. If not, it was never meant to be.” ‘Cowboy of Mine’ is my bittersweet take on that sentiment, and the idea of trusting that what’s meant for you will always find its way home, which is something I truly believe.” ANGELA ROSE ‘Cowboy Of Mine’ came together earlier this year after Rose left the Tamworth Country Music Festival feeling inspired to explore how growing up surrounded by this type of music could come together with her own brand of songwriting; one that exists in the indie pop space, as much as it does in the folk scene. Working with producer Pete Covington, she was able to fully lean into these influences and ultimately, create a song that aligns so perfectly with the dynamic artist she is embracing being. “Being surrounded by so much country music reminded me how much I love the genre and made me want to explore those roots more deeply in my own songwriting. Luke Davison (The Preatures) brought the drums to life, and adding pedal steel felt like the perfect finishing touch.” ANGELA ROSE
