About the Artist

Artist bio: My name is Ole, but most people might know me as "snusmumriksen" from TikTok or the artist called "checkpoint". This is actually a funny story, because back in late 2024, when I started doing social media and posting guitar covers on the "snusmumriksen" profile, I posted a video of me playing an original guitar composition one day, and I especially remember this one comment that i got from an OG fan: "Your music feels like a checkpoint in life", hence the artist name "checkpoint". I mean, I've been playing the piano since I was 6 years old (I'm 22 now), and also the guitar since I was 16, but that single comment is what truly gave me the spark to start making music (no i'm not crying). With that in mind, I try my very best to capture the small moments in life and express the feelings and memories they give through my own sound. Meaning, I make music that aims to feel like specific moments, memories, feelings and experiences. No voice, no lyrics, just the sound of the surroundings and the tools I use to express the scenes and thoughts in my head. Genre-wise, I would say my music is close to the music you would hear in movies – Soundtrack, Cinematic, and maybe a little Ambient. Basically, I really wanna live up to the comment i got. Description: “Petrichor” — my honest attempt to capture the earthy scent after the rain through music. Two self-recorded takes of rain hitting the ceiling of my childhood home were layered together with a total of six guitar melodies — all to simulate the calmness of listening to the rain while staying cozy inside. For me, rain itself brings comfort and stillness, but experiencing it through every sense is one of the most beautiful things in life: the sight of falling droplets, the sound of rain hitting the ground, the taste of freshness, the feeling of humidity, and finally, the smell of petrichor. The song ends with that moment after the rain, when the sun peeks through and reflects in the droplets still falling from the trees.
