About the Artist
Ally Hocking Howe is an Australian violinist, producer, and songwriter, performing under the artist name King Howe. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Music in Jazz Violin and Commercial Music at the University of North Texas - the first person in the world to pursue this combination. She is the violinist for UNT’s Grammy-nominated One O’Clock Lab Band, and the first Australian in its 80-year history. As King Howe, she writes, arranges, produces, and fronts an independent indie-folk/pop project backed by a band of jazz trained musicians, with music that has reached 37,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and her top song recently reaching 125,000 streams. Song Info: Ragged was cowritten by myself and Sophie Maurice (artist name Ragged Blossom). We wrote and recorded it in 24 hours, then I finished producing it the next day. It was one of those songs that felt so wrapped in friendship that it still brings a smile to my face every time I hear it.
