About the Artist
Bio: Maya Ixchell has established herself as an upcoming name to watch in the Western Australian music scene through several years of performance. She has been a regular performer at festivals such as the Nannup Music Festival, supported renowned artists including the Hoodoo Gurus, Jon Stevens, and Baby Animals, and embarked on tours spanning from Perth to Broome. Maya Ixchell has showcased her talent on national television for Telethon, released eleven singles that have accumulated over 150,000 streams, been nominated for a Folk WAM Song Of The Year, and featured four songs on the international radio chart aBreak58. Regularly compared to some of her favourite musical songwriters such as Missy Higgins and Taylor Swift, Maya Ixchell loves incorporating her own experiences and feelings and turning them into emotionally resonant folk-pop songs that connect deeply with audiences. In early 2026, Maya Ixchell successfully performed her first headline show, celebrating the release of her tenth single, The Coward’s Way. She now continues that momentum with her latest single, Perfect Life, set for release on 15 May. With a growing live audience and a string of shows lined up throughout 2026, she is set to make this year her biggest yet. Song Info: Perfect Life is a diary entry indie pop track about the messy, unfiltered aftermath of heartbreak. Blending raw emotion with a slightly tongue-in-cheek edge, it captures the thoughts you're not supposed to say out loud, pairing honest storytelling with subtle indie guitar textures and a more alt-leaning sound. It was recorded, produced and mastered at a studio between Bunbury and Busselton.
