What happens when songwriters Ricki Wood and Multi Award Winning, Shane Nicholson get together for a three hour songwriting session? Well, for the first 2 hours and 45 minutes, they talk about life, guitars, divorce, their kids, more guitars and then realise.. they’ve only got 15 minutes left. “Got any ideas”? Shane asks Ricki. "Yeah, I have an idea that the Devil is a HR guy at a company (aka The World) and he is sick of being blamed for everything bad, so he wants to quit and sit on a beach drinking cocktails for the rest of eternity" . Shane responds. ‘YES…. But maybe after a life in Hell… He wants to move somewhere cold’. Thirty minutes later, the Devil has handed in his resignation and ‘The Devil May Care’ is a finished song. It is a quirky lyrical idea with an instantly singable melody and a chorus that really gets stuck in the head for hours. Fans of Country, Americana and rock will dig this song. Think Jason Isbell, John Mellencamp with a twist of Tom Petty for good measure.
