Multi-award-winning Gold Coast (Yugambeh/Kombumerri)-based alternative six-piece SELVE - led by proud Jabirr Jabirr man Loki Liddle (he/him) - announce Breaking Outta Heaven, the companion EP to their history-making, internationally praised 2025 album Breaking Into Heaven: the first LP by an Aboriginal artist ever to be recorded at Abbey Road Studios in history. The announcement comes alongside headline tour dates across so-called QLD, VIC & NSW this Jun-Aug following a support slot with Playlunch, a festival season marked by high-energy appearances at Spilt Milk, Lost Paradise, St. Kilda Festival and ahead of their previously-announced 20-date EU/UK tour kicking off next week - all dates below. The EP expands the album's prismatic universe with adventurous new colours and thrilling spaces in the band's uniquely playful-yet-esoteric way - Liddle explains, "we broke into heaven - [which] may indeed just be a big old trap we’ll need to wrestle our way out of in the end". To celebrate the announcement, Selve share riff-heavy crowd favourite single 'Desire' and its one-take video - a heavier wielding of the more grittily-textured sound the band embraced with previous single 'Creature of the Night', as Selve continue to deliver the clever, high-drama sonic turns they've become celebrated for. Breaking Outta Heaven EP - also set to include recent triple j Unearthed-added single 'Creature Of The Night' - is out Friday 19 June - pre-order/save HERE; 'Desire' is out now via Community Music - stream/purchase HERE. Like the songs on Breaking Into Heaven - which were anchored and inspired by Nina Simone's immortal words that "The people who built their heaven on your land, are telling you that yours is in the sky" - a punk heart beats inside wild alt-rock cut 'Desire', boldly encouraging listeners to "fight for what [you] value and believe in", embracing love as "the fire of the spirit". Punchy, sensuous, electronic rock driven by fierce, untamed drums and giant riffs as the track battles its raw synths and lead guitar against each other, 'Desire' pumps rhythmically around Liddle's enticingly luxuriant vocals and enigmatic, evocative lyricism - the band's Creation Saffigna providing ecstatic BVs and bassist Scott French's hedonist production providing a pop polish. It lands alongside a joyously dizzying one-take video directed by the award-winning Joshua Tate (they/them) with Cody Wood on DP and colour duties - resulting in the vibrant latest entry to the Selve Cinematic Universe or SCU.

BIGSOUND 2026 Artists - Brisbane’s blue diner.
There is a really distinct vibe in the Brisbane music scene right now, and right at the center of it is blue diner. The four-piece have been quietly carving out a space for themselves with a sound that sits somewhere between ambient shoegaze and heavy, textured indie rock. With their latest release Disc 2 getting plenty of airplay on Local Sounds Radio and a spot locked in for the BIGSOUND 25th Anniversary showcase this September, things are moving fast.
