About the Artist

Bio: Serendipiti is carbonated indie-folk - with modest sweet guitar lines that grow into fizz-up-your-nose cinematic sensations. Her debut single ‘Human’ explodes with ethereal charm, and her debut EP 'idealist' is a document of her dedication to relentlessly uncovering the light in the darkness. Coming off a recent run of support slots with the likes of Thelma Plum, Jem Cassar Daley and Jo Davie, Serendipiti's newest single 'Kinda Fucked' steps into poignant, heartfelt honesty. Following the unravelling of the shimmering love-story from 'Distance,' it says everything left unsaid. Song Info: “I think the point is despite all the hurting, it’s worth living moments to their fullest, and living feelings for their largeness.” For the past three years, Serendipiti (Jessica Chate) has been not-so secretly sharing a singular story over five musical chapters. ‘At Last’ (Single) closes the book, unveiling the full ‘idealist’ EP. “It’s an ode to the magic of my first love,” Chate says. “The pain all felt worth it for the joy, and the love I let in. In every song, even in the heaviest moments - there was always still the silver lining of letting myself feel love that large - a light in the darkness.’ With an intrinsic belief in the dichotomy of light and dark in this world, Chate wanted her debut EP to reflect the essence of who she is at her core - someone who believes it’s always worth refocusing our lens on the light. She wants this EP to be a place people can feel safe and held in their biggest feelings, (especially those felt in the tiniest moments). It’s a softly sparkling, sonic reminder that there’s always light to be found, even in the ache itself. Balancing soaring, light-hearted melodies full of joy against brooding, heart-wrenching lows, the ‘idealist’ EP’s palatable depth of emotion is a testament to Chate’s artistic honesty and tenderness. Produced by Jessica Chate and Brian Butcher alongside tracks co-produced by Josh Beattie and Nick Zaharias, the debut EP features, in order, ‘Distance’, ‘Kinda Fucked’, ‘Ajar’, ‘Feather’ (featuring Amela), and, finally, ‘At Last’. The highs and lows are intoxicating, reflecting the largeness of feeling and wrapped in a bed of sparkling, rich instrumentation. There’s an innate charm to Chate, in the beguiling romantic optimism of ‘Distance’ that drops into the wretched reality of ‘Kinda Fucked’, before the listener once against soars upwards with the pull of potential with ‘Ajar’. Perhaps the rise and falls are so comfortable because they are so realistic in depicting each chronological chapter of that youthful, internal struggle of a first love. ‘Feather’ and ‘At Last’ sit on two sides of the same coin, as Chate keenly recognises the soft catharsis of closure cannot be condensed to just one track. ‘At Last’ epitomises the wisdom that even after all the healing - truly letting go means accepting a part of you will likely miss someone forever - yet deciding to choose yourself nonetheless. It gives us permission to glance back, to curl up and indulge in the longing for a second, before choosing to put it down, step forward and finally close the chapter. As the ‘signing of the end,’ it gives a heavy, tangible weight to an EP titled for an unyielding affinity for hope. It’s looking back whilst finally stepping forward. “At Last is the bittersweet realisation that you’ll probably always have a corner of your heart reserved for that person, that time - even when you know you’ll never go back.” Chate says. The praise for Chate’s previous releases is numerous; glowing reviews across Triple J Unearthed likening Serendipiti to Sigur Ros and Florence & the Machine, plays across Triple J (Drive, Home + Hosed), Unearthed, 4ZZZ, SYN and many more, plus standout live shows from the stages of BIGSOUND 2025, Valley Crawl 2026, and supporting the likes of Thelma Plum, Infinity Song (USA), Killing Heidi, Jem Cassar-Daley, Kyle Lionheart and so many more. The next Serendipiti headline will celebrate the ‘idealist’ in full at Black Bear Lodge (Magandjin, Brisbane) on 13th June.
