About the Artist

smallways. formed in 2023, are Sydney’s most chaotic punk art duo, forging a sound that’s as unpredictable as it is infectious. Formed in 2023, the band combines drums, 5-string bass, and dual vocals to create a tense, hook heavy hybrid of punk, hip-hop, and noise. Their music swings from melodic to distorted, landing somewhere between the likes of Viagra Boys, The Pixies, Talking Heads, SQUID, B-52s, The Garden, Amyl & The Sniffers, and BeastieBoys; they’re familiar yet entirely their own. With over a decade of experience across multiple projects, writing, performing, and curating; smallways. bring a seasoned DIY ethos to everything they do. Before launching their own material, they created MOVING DIFFERENT Festival, a 20-band, three-stage event at The Factory Theatre, Sydney, which drew 15 sponsors in 2024 and received such acclaim that the venue requested it return annually. They are set to curate it again in 2026, bringing insights from their co-contribution to the debut LOUD WOMEN Festival at CrowBar in 2025, further elevating their knowledge and development in festival curation.
