Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers
Canberra's Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers are making waves in the Australian indie scene. Formed in 2015 by Anna Ryan (vocals), Scarlett McKahey (guitar), Jaida Stephenson (bass), and Neve van Boxsel (drums), the all-femme rock band has been turning heads with their energetic live shows and genre-bending sound. Their debut EP, Pretty Good for a Girl Band (2022), earned them a Best Independent Punk Album or EP win at the 2023 AIR Awards. This was followed by their debut album, I Love You, in October 2023. The band's rise to fame began with a win in triple j's Unearthed High competition, leading to gigs alongside acts like Polish Club and WAAX, and a national tour with Slowly Slowly. Festival highlights include Groovin' The Moo, St Jerome's Laneway Festival, and Spilt Milk, solidifying their position as one of Australia's most exciting indie acts. The band have just released their deluxe version of their 2025 album, 'Glory', featuring a number of brand new tracks including the high energy rock anthem, 'GO WASTE MY TIME'. Scarlett says, "This is a super fun song that is on the deluxe version of our album Glory which just came out recently. It's a super fun one - we're really excited to start playing it live. It really gets you moving and makes you feel good."
