About the Artist

VAN RAVEN is the solo project of Dutch-Tasmanian singer-songwriter and producer Denise van den Berg. Her sound sits between alternative rock and grunge pop. She writes, records and produces her own music and music videos. Her songs explore love, lust, identity and the nature of being human, with metaphysical and spiritual ideas often hiding underneath more personal stories. "I'm a Dutch musician and producer based in Tasmania who started making music in her 40s. I write, record and produce my own music and music videos. I create because it gives me joy, and because the act of creation helps release and process repressed emotions. Basically, my music and videos are an external projection of my subconscious inner world." After writing her first song in November 2024, she completed a Certificate IV in Music in 2025 and began releasing music independently. Her second single, “Where Did All the Humans Go?”, received airplay on Hobart’s Edge Radio 99.3FM and Huon & Kingston FM 95.3, as well as Launceston’s City Park Radio FM. Her latest release "Like a Secret" has been played on Radio Stations in Australia, the USA, and The Netherlands. Backed in the studio and on stage by musician Matthew Osborne, known for playing bass and vocals in Distillery, The Far Cues and Chiseld, VAN RAVEN is now working towards her debut album, SECRETS. Her new single, “Like a Secret”, marks the beginning of the album’s release cycle in 2026.
