Country singer-songwriter Brooke Seabrook wants to start conversations about family, and generational cycles with her new single, Family Tree, released on August 14. Inspired by her own family's experiences, the song looks at how issues can be passed down to generations, while knowing everyone has a choice in how they move forward. Brooke said the song was inspired by stories that stretch back generations, including her grandfather, who returned from war and struggled. "It made me think about my own kids and the branches I create," she said. "You can attempt to change things for the next generation, but you can only have so much input into choices they'll make." Losing her mum at just 25 also added to the themes in the song. "I've always been intrigued by my grandparents and where they came from, but I didn't ask enough questions before Mum passed away," she said. "Family Tree is about recognising that some things are genetics, some things are circumstance and some things are choice."
