Searching offers a candid and relatable insight into Calida's lived experience of ADHD. Through forgetfulness, distraction, lost things and missed moments, the song captures the constant, circular search for focus, time and the thought that disappeared halfway through. Beneath the frustration is humour and humanity: an everyday portrait of navigating a neurodivergent mind.
Released on 21 October during ADHD Awareness Month and Invisible Disabilities Week (18-24 October), the song also opens a conversation about the historical under-recognition and misdiagnosis of ADHD in girls, women and AFAB people, particularly when their experiences do not fit stereotypical hyperactive presentations.
