The Night

About this Song

Some find themselves compelled by beauty and charm. Charisma can seduce, and kill. Those enchanted are kept against their will and abused, physically, mentally. When realisation dawns that the one they've trusted and loved is in fact dangerously insane, escape is the hardest step. The Night is ostensibly a sleazy blues tune with a slightly uneasy edge. The prose initially appears to be directed at a lover, yet soon a faint disturbing aura clouds the song. A swirling organ, very subtle banjo, and a trio of guitars surf across the tight swung rhythm as the persona's madness descends out of control. Giving "Green Onions if the Doors covered it" vibes, we reach an unresolved crescendo as the world opens up to literally the night, and we hope that the poor soul in the protagonist's presence has found an opportunity...
