Sunday

About this Song

Conceived in 2021 when lockdowns and Covid were at their peak, ELYK conjured up the idea of ‘Sunday’ from their bedroom in Melbourne, Australia. Identifying the increasing amount of time he spent on his devices and having them know him “better than [his] friends” or vice versa. The song reminisces of when the world had more face to face connection. Despite a change in context with the song being released in October 2026, the lyrics still hold their truth with the rise and hatred of AI in our art spaces. The more that people become reliant on technology and not being able to tell what is real the more people will come together again, as ELYK hopes in this track. Sounding like a young Dominic Fike, ‘Sunday’ blends a soft rock, jam instrumental as ELYK passionately raps over the top about his experiences with technology and the lack of social connection he is feeling. Juxtaposing the lyrics, the uplifting and high energy track finishes with an incredible guitar solo as ELYK adlibs, keeping the hype going throughout this 2:39 single. ELYK will be doing a single launch at The Tote Upstairs on October 22nd! Catch the band playing this track live along with other unreleased originals in their discography that will get you grooving.
