Endgame is about the quiet heartbreak of believing someone was your forever, only to realise that loving them isn’t enough to make them stay. It explores that painful moment when you understand you can’t control another person’s feelings, or choose how your story ends. The song was inspired by the heartbreak we feel watching a movie when two people seem destined to end up together but never get their happy ending. I wanted to capture that feeling in real life: holding onto all the little moments that made a love feel permanent, before having to accept an ending you never would have chosen. I created Endgame with my producer in the UK, who has worked with me since the very beginning of my music journey. Now that I live in Australia, we create together from opposite sides of the world. I recorded my vocals from home in a makeshift recording booth before sending them to him in the UK to build the final production. Despite the distance, we’ve continued growing together creatively and shaping my sound with every release. For Endgame, we wanted the production to feel sweeping and cinematic, like the final scene of a love story that didn’t end the way you hoped.
