Imagine the raw, chaotic energy of an impulsive toddler on a sugar high, translated entirely into a frantic, tongue-in-cheek alt-rock anthem that every parent requires in their terrible two survival kit. That is the heartbeat of "The Twinkle in My Nightmare.” Made in Melbourne by a sleep deprived father, this track portrays relatable mania of a toddler and weaponises it into a hard-hitting rock, post-punk anthem. It blends the gritty, guitar riff swagger of Queens of the Stone Age with a production style of My Chemical Romance. The song was inspired by a father who was reading a song book to his two-year-old daughter at the time. Due to exhaustion, the father misread a lyric in the book. Instead of saying "you are the twinkle in my night time" he said "you are the twinkle in my nightmare." The father, his wife and finally his daughter all burst into laughter and a promise was made to write a song in dedication to that precious family moment. To capture that authentic domestic madness, we actually raided my daughter’s playroom, snatched her toy glockenspiel and recorded its eerie childlike chime into the song, mimicking a “twinkle” sonically. The chorus is a sinister, fast-paced sonic assault where innocent playtime collides head-on with heavy, driving rock. It is loud and beautifully unhinged, just like a toddler.
