About the Artist
Melbourne-based pop artist Lara Villani (she/her) turns up the heat on her new single ‘Westside’, a track built for late nights, blurred lines, and that magnetic pull you cannot talk yourself out of. Flirty, fun, and unapologetically in the moment, ‘Westside’ captures the rush of connection when labels fade into the background and all that matters is how it feels.
Marking a clear shift in Lara’s creative direction, ‘Westside’ sees her stepping fully into her own sound, with more confidence, clarity, and play than ever before.
“This track feels different to my previous releases because I’m really stepping into my own era as an artist. I’m owning my sound more than ever, experimenting creatively, and leaning fully into the kind of music I’ve always wanted to make,” she explains.
That vision comes through in every detail. Lara’s next chapter is about making music she would have on repeat herself, songs that can sit alongside her favourite artists and carry the same bold energy.
“The sound is spicy, sexy and fun, and it reflects the energy I want people to feel when they listen,” Lara says.
Built from everyday moments, relationships, and the electric charge of a night out, ‘Westside’ distils the kind of connection you do not overthink. It is confident pop with a clear point of view, made for the group chat, the dancefloor, and the drive home.
The single follows from Lara’s debut EP releases ‘Whiplash’ which came out at the end of 2025. The body of work received notable support from Rolling Stone, Earmilk, BUZZMUSIC, triple J support and more.
‘Westside’ arrives as Lara commits to a huge year of releases, with five new songs planned across 2026, including upcoming bilingual tracks and an Italy writing camp later this year to reconnect with her roots.
