About the Artist
Australian country rock artist Monnii O'Garr has been passionate about music since the age of 10, when she first picked up a guitar and discovered her love of singing. Over the years, she has performed as a lead vocalist and guitarist in several bands, stage productions and tribute acts, building a reputation for energetic performances and a genuine connection with audiences.
The idea for Wild and Free stayed with Monnii for almost five years before she teamed up with acclaimed songwriter David Carter of country duo Carter & Carter in 2024 to co-write the song. In June 2026, producer Robyn Payne helped to bring the track to life with a polished contemporary country rock sound.
A B-double truck driver herself, Monnii wrote Wild and Free from the perspective of the partner left behind. The song captures the pride, loneliness and unwavering love that comes with watching someone head off on long interstate journeys, sometimes for weeks at a time, while holding onto the hope of their safe return home.
