This song was inspired by autism, but after writing the lyrics, I realised this is literally all of us. The social mask that we all wear and carry, and the song captures the moment that it falls apart. Partly from personal experience but partly from learning more about autism and masking, and that it is okay to mask because it helps with our mental health and wellbeing. But also knowing the nakedness when we are vulnerable, and the want to feel powerful again.
The sonics were inspired by Artful Dodger and Craig David, one of my faveourite R&B (arguably alternative R&B, UK Garage Hybrid) albums of all time. And brings together more common aesthetics like vocal warps from Fred Again, and reverse kick reminscent of Don Tolivers E85.
