Acclaimed Los Angeles-based trio Tiny Habits have unveiled their second album Keepers (Mom+Pop Music) arriving on the heels of a standout US summer marked by a series of buzzed-about appearances - including singing at Matty Healy’s wedding - and after two transformative years of touring alongside James Taylor, Sarah McLachlan, Vance Joy, Gracie Abrams and Noah Kahan and their sold out debut Australian headline tour. It marks a new chapter for Tiny Habits, defined by creative risk-taking, personal growth, and an unwavering commitment to making music on their own terms, and sonically moving beyond the folk-backed framework of their debut into a pop-forward space laced with disco, soul, R&B, and purely danceable moments all while keeping the trio’s vocal chemistry at its core.
The trio moves through heartbreak, desire, self-doubt, ambition, friendship, family, and the complicated process of becoming more themselves across the album’s twelve songs. Featuring the singles that revealed new sides of the band - focus track ‘Love Ruins Everything’ that premiered on Zane Lowe’s New Music Daily overnight, ‘Anything He Was’ with Matty Healy, ‘Right In Front Of Me’, and ‘Belt Loop’ - the album brings those threads together into their most ambitious and personal work to date.
Playing with the grass-is-always-greener feeling of relationships, the purely danceable album opener ‘Love Ruins Everything’ captures the contradictions of wanting what you don’t have: longing for a relationship when you’re single, only to miss your independence once you’ve found one. At once funny, self-aware, and sincere, the song explores how love can be both wonderfully consuming and completely disruptive.
“Love ruins everything! Scream it from the rooftops!” the band says of ‘Love Ruins Everything’. “Imagine, you're the only single person in a bar on Valentine's Day, you look across the table and see nothing but a cracked leather booth. Your loneliness makes your drink taste like gasoline. Love ruins everything. Or you're finally in love with the person of your dreams. He's perfect.
