About the Artist

Hailing from the heart of Brisbane, Evie Williams is making waves in the indie pop world with her fresh sound and authentic storytelling. Her upcoming single ‘July’ confirms Evie’s genre-transcending ability and bears more vulnerability than ever before. Drawing inspiration from both indie folk and modern pop icons, she has crafted a distinctive sound that effortlessly blends twangy guitars with infectious hooks. Her latest single is a testament to her evolution as an artist, showcasing not only her captivating vocals but also her ability to articulate life’s grittier topics with eloquence and maturity. With lyrics that resonate with listeners' vulnerabilities, Evie invites audiences into her world, where every verse tells a piece of her personal journey. As Evie Williams embarks on this new chapter, she is poised to leave an indelible mark on the indie pop world. With her unique pop-folk shimmer, she is carving out her place in the local music scene. Stay tuned as she continues to share her musical vision and connect with audiences nationwide. Song Info: Meanjin/Brisbane's Evie Williams returns with 'July', out July 3, a dense and cathartic indie-folk reckoning with heartbreak. Shaped by rich vocal harmonies, layered guitars and a sound that builds from a whisper to a roar, she shares a story about the darker corners we retreat to when love falls apart, and the hope that quietly persists. Now with 'July', Evie leans into a rawer, more unflinching side and confronts the messier truths of moving on, reflecting on her own experience of a relationship breakdown and the coping mechanisms that carry us through the worst of it. Speaking on the single, she shares: “I wrote ‘July’ in the middle of processing a breakup and realising I had lost track of how long it had been since turning to negative coping mechanisms. It felt like anywhere was better than being alone in my room. I would tell myself that there was always going to be another night; another night to go out and have fun, but I needed to regain control first. This song nurtures a hopefulness that I was relieved to finally start feeling again after what felt like a lifetime." With an aching honesty, the track unflinchingly portrays the imperfect ways we survive heartbreak, and carefully carries the listener through to an ending full of hard-won hope.
