giddy
Bio: giddy is a poet-turned-songwriter from Eora/Sydney. I play songs to cry to on the world's happiest instrument (my baritone ukulele Lorien). I took my first ever singing class with my mum five years ago - before that I wasn't even a shower singer - but it's become a big part of my life. I've just finished recording my debut record. It's called 'songs for awkward spaces' and it's about the difficult moments and transition points in relationships that are for keeps. My sound is, I think, intimate, stripped-back and lyrical. A lot of people tell me that they find my music comforting, and that's nice to hear. I often write about messy, complex feelings, but I think I'm an optimist at heart - I'm always looking for the glimmer of light in every situation, and I think that comes through in my songwriting. Song Info: 'salt' is a song about the dark side of intimacy - about feeling at the end of your rope with someone who you can't bear to give up on. I'm pretty sure I've both inflicted and experienced this feeling in every truly close relationship I've ever had. I think the people who love us the best also tend to hurt us the most - we let them all the way under our skin, they see through us to all our most tender bits, and we're just so much more sensitive to what they think of us. I wrote this song from the depths of that feeling, but I really find it kind of comforting to think that the most visceral pain we feel is often just the underbelly of deep love. 'salt' was recorded, produced and mixed by Emmy and ARIA-winning producer (and wonderful human being) Sean Carey at Church Street Studios in Camperdown.
