About the Artist
Blending the storytelling soul of folk with the grit of modern country, Austin Mackay is fast emerging as one of Australia’s most captivating new artists. Born and raised on the east coast of Australia, his music captures a life in motion; the pull of the open road, the quiet voice of reflection, and the yearning for chasing something just out of reach. Influenced by the likes of Chris Stapleton, John Mayer, and Gregory Alan Isakov, Austin’s sound is grounded in raw emotion, honest songwriting, and a deep connection to the stories that shape us.
From humble beginnings playing coastal bars to commanding festival stages at Byron Bay Bluesfest, Howlin’ Country, BIGSOUND, and CMA Fest in Nashville, Austin has forged a path that’s equal parts authentic and ambitious. Along the way, he’s supported acclaimed acts including Max McNown, Morgan Evans, Brad Cox, and The Dreggs, while headlining sold-out shows across Australia and New Zealand and steadily building a dedicated and growing fanbase.
With millions of streams and a catalogue of deeply resonant singles including; ‘Time to Learn’, ‘All My Friends’, and his latest release ‘The Wheel’, Austin continues to evolve his sound while staying true to his core. His songs speak to the working class, the restless, and the romantic. To anyone who’s ever taken the long way home.
Austin's first single of 2026, 'Stranded', is now playing on Local Sounds Radio.
