“Pete and I have known each other for over 20 years, and we’ve always talked about working together,” says Casey. “‘Time To Burn’ came from an honest conversation about how fast life moves and how easy it is to get caught up chasing everything while the moments that matter slip by. Writing it together as two dads made it hit even deeper. With everything going on in the world, it feels more important than ever to slow down and be present - because those moments don’t come back.”
“I met Casey about 20 years ago when he was playing a rugby gig I’d done a couple of years earlier, just before my career took off,” recalls Pete. “We talked about his goals with original music, and a lot has happened for both of us since then. Now, here we are, writing a song together after all this time. I believe ‘Time To Burn’ is something everyone will connect with.”
Co-written by Casey Barnes, Pete Murray, Michael Paynter and Michael DeLorenzis, “Time To Burn” represents a natural creative meeting point, blending modern country with classic Australian singer-songwriter sensibility. The official video for the song was shot in the hills of Byron Bay with multi-Golden Guitar Award winning video director, Jay Seeney.
