To mark exactly one year since the release of the debut album Wildflowers In Concrete, which skyrocketed to #1 on the ARIA Australian Country Album charts, Hazel & The Thief (Heidi Luckhurst) is re-releasing the record’s most joyous, foot-stomping track: ‘The Magic of the Country.’
‘The Magic of the Country’ is Hazel’s favorite happy track. Driven by an upbeat acoustic melody, a slightly Celtic fiddle, and chanting choruses designed for singing with mates, the song evokes the warmth of a campfire and the quiet magic of the outback.
During recording sessions in Tasmania, Hazel shared stories with one of her greatest idols, John Williamson. Treating her as a musical peer, Williamson championed her acoustic version of the track online, offering profound advice: "Keep being authentic. Keep being you. We need more people writing authentic Australian songs with an Australian accent."
Armed with new songs inspired by old country towns, Aussie farmers, and the realities of a musician's life, she promises an even bigger 2027. Let’s make this September 11 a celebration of hard work, authenticity, and the magic of the country!
