About this Song
I wrote Welcome Back at a time when I was finally starting to see a relationship for what it was: constantly giving my energy to someone who could never really meet me where I was. The song is about that strange moment when you realise you're no longer waiting for someone to change or come back. There's no big fight or dramatic ending, just a quiet sense of peace and the feeling that you've outgrown something that once meant a lot to you. Even though the lyrics were emotional for me, I wanted the production to feel the opposite. I grew up loving disco and dance music, and there's something really healing about putting hard feelings over a groove. Inspired by artists like Dua Lipa, Jessie Ware and Moloko, I wanted this song to feel like dancing your way into your next chapter. "Welcome Back" is part of my debut EP, Landing – a project about learning to trust yourself, let go of what isn't serving you anymore, and finding a soft place to land in the middle of all that change.
