Rising country-pop duo Mak & Shar are leaning into the fun side of falling hard on their infectious new single ‘Drink You Up’, out now. Written by the brothers in the space of an hour while travelling to a show, ‘Drink You Up’ captures the rush of being completely wrapped up in someone. With its playful lyric, driving country-pop production and instantly memorable hook, the track finds Mak & Shar embracing a lighter, cheekier side of their sound. “‘Drink You Up’ is really about that carefree, summery feeling of being completely into someone and not getting enough of them. It’s made for a slow drive with the windows down and the music up.” Written, recorded and self-produced by Mak & Shar, ‘Drink You Up’ was mixed and co-produced by Jared Adlam, whose credits include Mack Geiger and James Johnston. “This was our first time working with Jared on a song, and it was awesome! All our music so far has been self-produced, so having such a high-tier producer work on our song was incredible. We wanted to really take this one to the next level and Jared’s experience and expertise definitely achieved it!” The back half of ’26 will see the boys crisscross the east coast. From playing support for Mental as Anything, to delivering their own headline shows in Sydney and Brisbane, then ringing in the new year at Broken Hill’s NYE event. Away from the stage lights, music has been part of the brothers’ lives from an early age. Both studied at the Australian International Conservatorium of Music, earning Bachelor of Music degrees, with Mak beginning his university studies at just 15 years old. Shar’s performing career started even earlier, touring Australia as a young Peter Allen in Hugh Jackman’s ‘The Boy from Oz’ and later appearing in ‘Titanic the Musical’. With ‘Drink You Up’, Mak & Shar add another energetic, hook-heavy release to their remarkable catalogue that combines modern country-pop polish with the natural chemistry of two brothers who’ve been making music together their whole lives.
