Navigating the space between high school and the ‘real’ world is always a challenge and Hourglass is an expression of this time in everyone’s life as viewed by the band.
There’s a strong theme of growing up and changing while trying to maintain something that may no longer fit.
It’s also about the way relationships change during this time. A sense of ‘We used to be close. We’ve both changed. I still care about you, but we’re driving each other crazy, and I don’t know whether we’re trying to save this relationship or deliberately wreck it.’
About the Artist
Formed in the schoolyards of Caboolture in 2022, The Phosphenes have been honing their craft ever since. With a strong DIY work ethic and a sound that leans heavily into 90’s grunge and garage rock they’ve been steadily working their way up through the South East Queensland music scene.
With a raft of live performances under their belts, including supports with Aussie rock icons Jebediah, Bodyjar, Frenzal Rhomb, Screaming Jets, Butterfingers and End of Fashion and more current acts such as Great Gable, Daily J, Radium Dolls and Mannequin Death Squad, The Phosphenes are showing they have what it takes to make it on the bigger stages.
It’s fun, it’s loud…..IT’S ELECTRIC!!!
