The Phosphenes
Bio: The Phosphenes are the unapologetic voice of a new generation of alt-rockers. Raised on a steady diet of 90s pop culture, grunge, and garage rock, the band formed in early 2022 when three 14- and 16-year-olds decided to swap teenage boredom for distortion pedals and dive bar stages. In just a short time, The Phosphenes have carved out a name for themselves in the South East Queensland music scene, playing everything from dive bars and backyard parties to festivals and skate park gigs. Their sound is a raw, noisy, and infectious blend of grunge, alternative rock and power-pop punk — think Silverchair, You Am I, Jebediah, and Violent Soho with a fresh, unfiltered edge. With fuzzed-out bass, tight riffs, drums tough enough to steal your lunch money, and lyrics about being young, dumb and just trying to figure it all out, The Phosphenes capture the restless energy of youth in every song. It’s messy. It’s loud. It’s real. Song Info: At the moment we have been getting a lot of inspiration from legendary Australian bands like You Am I and Jebediah and I think you can hear these influences when you listen to D.Y.V The general tone of the song is about being a bit complacent in your life and lacking any real drive to make a difference. Being happy to settle with how things are but realising that you are the person that needs to make the changes if you want anything to improve.
